Blank Black Image on Camera

So you see an issue wherein after launching/ opening camera application on the device, it just remains stuck on the black screen with or without camera controls  on the screen. Make sure you have enough storage space available on the device before troubleshooting. Try below steps to troubleshoot further: 

  • Just have a quick look at the back of the device to check to see whether the camera lens has had any sort of damage or is misplaced. If that is the case there are chances that the device camera is damaged because of physical damage to the device. In this case contact Sonim Technical Support for help.
  • Try force stop by going to Settings > Apps > Locate and click on 'Camera' > Choose 'Force Stop'. Launch camera and check if issue still persists.
  • If above is not the case, try rebooting the device and check if it makes any difference.
  • Try switching between picture to video mode
  • Clear data by going to Settings > Apps > Click on 'Camera' > Click on 'Storage' > Clear data. This only deletes the preferences and not the actual images or videos.
  • If issue still persists Contact Sonim Technical Support.

Camera App Crashing

If the camera application closes right after you open it or it shows error such as "Unfortunately, Camera has stopped" or "Camera Error" or "Cannot connect to camera", please try below steps : (also make sure you have enough storage space available)

  1. Close all the applications and then launch camera again.
  2. Force stop camera from Settings > Apps > Locate and click on 'Camera' > Choose 'Force Stop'. Launch camera app and check if issue still persists.
  3. Clear data by going to Settings > Apps > Locate and click on 'Camera' > Click on 'Storage' > Clear data. This only deletes the preferences and not the actual images or videos.

If issue still persists Contact Sonim Technical Support.

Camera Flash Not Working

If you find out that your phones flash is not working while trying to click pictures or capture videos, follow below steps : 

  1. Make sure that flash is turned on. To do that launch Camera app > Press Options key (left topmost key) > Enable Flash.
  2. If flash is On and clicking pictures does not trigger the flash, check to see if flash is working at all. To do that come back to home screen and press and hold menu key(center topmost key). 
  3. If flash is working outside of camera app, force close the camera by going to Settings > Apps > Click on 'Camera' > Choose 'Force Stop' and check if issue still exists.
  4. Clear data by going to Settings > Apps > Locate and click on 'Camera' > Click on 'Storage' > Clear data. This only deletes the preferences and not the actual images or videos.

If issue still persists contact Sonim Technical Support.
